Who We Are
Bruce Ovenden
Builder & Director
With over 25 years in the building industry, I’m the builder behind Better Built Builders. After building on the foundations my stepfather started, I’ve continued to focus on the things that matter most to me, quality work, trust, and reliability. I stay closely involved from the first conversation through to handover, making sure every project is delivered with care, precision, and a clear focus on what the client wants to achieve. Clients often tell me they value my calm approach and the way I keep communication clear throughout the process. Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, golf, and spending time with family, especially our weekly family dinners, which remind me why building homes for families matters so much.
Tim
Foreman and Supervisor
Tim has been with us for 12 years. That kind of longevity doesn’t happen by accident.He’s the one making sure the job keeps moving. Coordinating trades. Keeping standards high. Making sure no one’s standing around waiting for direction. Tim is strong on communication. He knows how to speak to trades clearly and keep them accountable, while also keeping clients informed about what’s happening on site. If you walk onto your project and see things running smoothly, that’s often Tim behind it. Outside of work, he loves travelling, good food, fishing, footy, and spending time with his family. He’s steady, reliable, and takes pride in what he does.
Braden
Carpenter
Braden has been part of the team for four years.
He’s a strong listener, which matters more than people realise in construction. He takes instruction properly, pays attention to detail, and works hard without needing to be chased. He brings consistency to site and backs up the standards we expect on every project. Outside of work, he’s into cars, outdoor activities, and spending time with his mates. He brings energy to the team but keeps his focus where it needs to be during the day.
Tully
Third Year Apprentice
Tully is our third-year apprentice and one of the next generation coming through. He’s keen, hardworking, and genuinely wants to learn. That attitude matters. Skills can be taught. Work ethic can’t. He puts in the effort and takes pride in improving every week. Outside of work, he DJs on weekends and enjoys spending time with his mates. He brings enthusiasm to site and is building the foundations of a long career in the industry.
Monique
Office Manager
Monique has recently joined Better Built Builders and plays an important role in keeping everything organised behind the scenes. Her natural strengths in communication and organisation help ensure both clients and the team always feel clear on what’s happening next. From scheduling and administration through to supporting the day to day flow of projects, Monique helps make the building process feel calm, structured, and well managed. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, going to the gym, spending time with friends, and is currently studying events management, which suits her passion for planning and coordination.
